wettest.now is a free weather-rankings website run by an independent developer in Thailand (“we”). We built it to collect as little as possible: no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. This page explains what does happen when you use it.

What we process

• Requests to the site. Our host, Cloudflare, receives your IP address, browser type and the page you ask for, as every web host does, to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse. Our own request logs are kept for up to 7 days for debugging and then deleted automatically.
• Approximate location. Cloudflare estimates a rough location (country and nearby coordinates) from your IP address. We use it only to pick the nearest place we track for the “Near you” card and your country’s rankings. We do not store it.
• Precise location (only if you ask). The locate button on the map asks your browser for your position. Your browser shows its own permission prompt; the position is used on your device to move the map and is not sent to us.
• Searches. Place names you search for are used to answer that request. Like any other request, they may appear in our short-lived logs.

Cookies

We use one cookie, and only if you choose a place with “Set as my place” or “Change”:

• wx_home — remembers the place you picked (a city number), so the site opens there next time. It lasts one year. It is strictly necessary for that feature, so we do not ask for consent. Remove it with “Use my location instead” or by clearing cookies for wettest.now.

We do not use advertising, analytics or social-media cookies, and we do not store anything else on your device. If that ever changes, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Other services

• Cloudflare (hosting, security and content delivery) processes requests on our behalf.
• Open-Meteo provides the weather data. Our server requests it; your browser does not contact Open-Meteo, and we do not send them anything about you.
• Fonts, map files and scripts are served from wettest.now itself, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or other CDNs.

Why we can do this

Under Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and, for visitors from the EU/UK, the GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website. Precise location is only used with the permission you give in your browser.

Your rights

We keep almost nothing that identifies you. You can still ask us what we hold, ask us to delete it, or object to its use by contacting email hello@wettest.now. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Thailand, the PDPC).

Children

The site is for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change how the site handles data (for example by adding advertising), we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
